Why is my Gast rotary vane pump running with lower than expected pressure?

  • The filter could be dirty – replace the filter;
  • The muffler could be dirty – replace the muffler;
  • Plugged pressure line – Inspect and repair the pressure line;
  • Clogged diffuser – replace the diffuser;
  • Vanes sticking – purchase a repair kit and replace the vanes;
  • Vanes worn – purchase a repair kit and replace the vanes;
  • Motor not wired correctly – check wiring diagram to confirm that the pump is wired for the voltage supplied and check the line voltage.

What would cause my Gast rotary vane pump to overheat?  If the electric motor overheats the motor could stop running due to thermal overload protection within the electric motor.  The motor may restart after a cool down period.  Pump overheating could be caused by:

  • Filter could be dirty – replace the filter;
  • Muffler could be dirty – replace the muffler;
  • Plugged pressure line – Inspect and repair the pressure line;
  • Clogged diffuser – replace the diffuser;
  • Vanes sticking – purchase a repair kit and replace the vanes;
  • Vanes worn – purchase a repair kit and replace the vanes;
  • Motor not wired correctly – check wiring diagram to confirm that the pump is wired for the voltage supplied and check the line voltage.

Why is my Linear pump running with lower than expected pressure?

  4. Diaphragms torn – purchase a repair kit and replace the diaphragm;
  5. Motor not wired correctly – check wiring diagram to confirm that the pump is wired for the voltage supplied and check the line voltage.

What would cause my Linear vane pump to overheat?  If the coils overheat they could stop working due to thermal overload protection within the coils.  Coils overheating could cause the coils to burn and permanently stop working.  The coils may restart after a cool down period.  Pump coils overheating could be caused by:

  1. The filter could be dirty – replace the filter;
  2. Plugged pressure line – Inspect and repair the pressure line;
  3. Clogged diffuser – replace the diffuser;
  4. Diaphragms torn – purchase a repair kit and replace the diaphragm;
